*intercepts 624 bags of 50kg rice, 214 kegs of 25litres PMS others

The Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has generated N43.6 billion between February and October, this year.
This was disclosed in Ibadan on Thursday by the Area Comptroller in charge of the command, Mrs Uche Ngozi while addressing a post EndSARS press conference in Ibadan to highlight activities of the command held at its command headquarters .
According to Mrs Ngozi, since the EndSARS protest, the command have made series of interceptions along various unapproved routes which has helped with 624 bags of 50kg each of foreign parboiled rice with Duty Paid Value of N27.0 million and 214 kegs of 25litres each of Premium Motor Spirit.
“In accumulation from February, 2020 till date, 19th November, 2020, the Command sized “11,418 bags of rice, 340 block of Indian hemp, 91 gallons /103 kegs of vegetable oil, 325 bales of second hand clothing , 800 bags of fertilizer, 41units of motorcycles, 39 Cars, 6 trucks , 5 pick up, 9 SUV ,1 Truck tanker and 7 Bus.”, he said.
Mrs Ngozi added, “within same time frame, the command has collected a total duty of N43.6 billion with outstanding balance of N1.087 billion which could not hit the account in October due to some technical issues but shall reflect in the November, 2020”.
She lamented that hoodlums leveraged on the endsars protest to perpetrate their nufarious activities along the boarders in the states, saying,”we have further sharpened our intelligence and increased synergy with other sister agencies. We took the bull by the horn to nip these smugglers in the board with maximum intelligence gathering”
