Nasarawa Youth Council Hails Gov Sule Over Stringent Measures against LGAs Leadership

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi A. Sule

The leadership of the Nasarawa State Youth Council has commended the State Government in its efforts to uncover the massive fraud and corruption that is ongoing in the local government system since 2012 against the interest of the general public.
In a statement signed by the Chairman of the Council,  Comrade Idris Ojoko, the Council supported the decision of the state government to approve the suspension of the DPMs and DFS of all the  Local Governments and Development Areas in the state in an effort to sanitize the system and stop further corruption practice for the next three months.
The council expressed disgust on the discovery of the corrupt practices in the local governments, saying that it is “shameful, shocking and a clear wicked act to sabotage the efforts of the state government that has been up and doing to ensure a better life for the citizenry”.
The council said it is Unfortunate that the employees and most especially the pensioners who have diligently served the state are at the receiving ends.
“A situation where over six hundred million naira monthly cannot be accounted for by the accounting officers of the local governments since 2012 is highly unacceptable. We cannot continue to fold our arms and allow few saboteurs to cripple the activities of the system in a glare democratic and civil system”.
The Council called on the Nasarawa State House of Assembly and other relevant bodies to support the efforts of the governor in bringing an end to this unwholesome practices that can lead to a total collapse of the system.
“The anti corruption agencies such as EFCC and ICPC should extend their search lights to the Nasarawa State local government system with a view to prosecute the perpetrators at the end of the investigation.
“The damage has been done but it’s better late than never. These we believe are some of the recommended ways to help sanitize and revive the local government system in Nasarawa State”, the statement said.
The said  with emphsis that the third tier of government that’s supposed to be most effective and closer to the people cannot just be mocked without repercussions.
