Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni has on Thursday presented the 2021 finance and appropriation bill to the state House of Assembly with an increase of over 20 billion Naira against the 2020 budget.
The Governor stated that this year’s budget would concentrate on the completion of all ongoing projects and creating enabling environment for youth empowerment among others.
Presenting the budget at the floor of the state House of Assembly, Governor Mai Mala Buni explained that the 2021 budget is a budget of Recovery, Consolidation and Economic Rejuvenation.
Governor Mai Mala Buni stated that, the budget amounting to one hundred and six billion, nine hundred and ninety eight million (106,998,499,776) will facilitate the execution of various projects and programmes of the state and spread across all sectors of human development.”
This figure, Governor Mai Mala Buni said, has an increase of twenty billion, nine hundred and forty nine million, three hundred and forty eight thousand, six hundred and seventy two Naira (20,949,388,672) over that of 2020 budget”.
He maintained that, “out of the total amount, the sum of over 63 billion Naira representing 59.5 per cent has been earmarked for recurrent expenditure, while the sum of over 43 billion naira would be dedicate to financing of capital expenditure”.
Governor Mai Mala Buni said, the 2021 budget would largely dwell on completion of all ongoing projects such as the Damaturu International Cargo airport, Trailer park in Potiskum, Damaturu modern market.Others include Potiskum, Gashua, Nguru as well as Gaidam modern markets and road linking Damagum- Gubana, Nguru–Bulanguwa as well as township roads in Damaturu, Gashua, Gaidam, Nguru and Potiskum towns.
He also said, Government is intending to construct additional inter and intra township roads across the state, reinvigorate drive of providing numerous empowerment packages for youth in the state.
In addition to various programmes which are directly funded through the state resources, Governor Mai Mala Buni explained that, the state government would partner with World Bank for the implementation of various projects in the state for the betterment of people.
