HASSAN, Kano The Secretary-General of the international Federation of Female lawyers (FIDA), Barrister Amina Umar has disclosed that the organisation would continue to fight against female gender abuse in the society and ensure that offenders get severe punishment according to the offense committed. She made the disclosure in an interview with our correspondent when he visited the association's office, adding that, "we are working selflessly to make sure that the issue of women abuse is rapidly reducing through different ways, and at the same time punish those who are found guilty of any type of rights violation on women gender to serve as a lesson to those who intend to commits such offense ". She assured. Barrister Amina Umar said that FIDA has offices and members in 29 states including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where all cases related to women and children abuse are being followed till the final stage to ensure that offenders are dealt with accordingly like what is being witnessed in the courts. The secretary announced that FIDA is a non-profit organisation that makes contribution amongst its members to discharge duties because according to her, all services are free right from the beginning to the end of any case received by the organisation. She called on the general public to report anybody found abusing the female gender. Speaking on their relationship with security agencies, Barrister Amina Umar stressed that, " we are working together with all the security agencies comprising police, judiciary, correctional centres and the commissioner for women affairs and the media which is encouraging in so many respects, and we are also operating an open door policy to enable the people to report anything related to female gender abuse". Furthermore, Barrister Amina Umar thanked the German Embassy and Isa Wali Empowerment Initiative for collaboration with FIDA in the fight against women and children abuse which is becoming profitable. She commended the Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for his intention to provide FIDA with a working vehicle and support to acquire permanent office complex for conducive working atmosphere.
