The Jigawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has recorded 1,455 cases, out of which 119 cases were successfully prosecuted by the command.
A statement signed by the command’s spokesperson, Adamu Shehu, said the cases include 356 criminal and 1,099 civil.
Amongst the criminal cases include theft, burglary, shoplifting, vandalization, drug abuse/selling, robbery, thuggery, assault, sodomy, rape, gross indecency and forgery.
Others include breach of trust, impersonation, kidnapping, murder, homicide, suicide, criminal intimidation and public nuisance.
He explained that the command was able to prosecute 119 of the criminal cases, secured conviction of 10 out of the 356 criminal cases, while 187 were awaiting trial.
The spokesman added that out of the 1,099 civil cases, 643 were successfully resolved, 71 were referred to court, while 385 were still pending.
It however called on the members of the public to assist the command’s personnel with useful information that would facilitate its mode of operation in cleansing Jigawa of criminality in its quest in making the state crime free, as well as exposing the hideouts of criminals for prosecution.
It also reaffirmed its resolve in assisting the public in resolving petty disputes amicably to enhance peaceful coexistence at all times for a peaceful.
