Nasarawa State House of Assembly has called on the members of the State Youth Empowerment Scheme (NAYES) working across the state to redouble efforts towards helping security agents tackle crime and enhance other social services across the state.
Hon. Musa Salihu Iyimoga, Chairman House Committee on Youth and Sports gave the charged at the assembly complex while appraising the 2020 budget performance of the agency in Lafia.
He commended the management of the agency for living up to expectations in the area of assisting the security agencies, ensuring environmental cleanliness, traffic order among others.
He added that the assembly and by extension government and the people are happy with the manner in which the agency has work tirelessly to ensure the endSARS protest was not stage in the state. Saying that has contributed immensely in sustaining peace in the state and enjoined them to sustain the spirit.
Iyimoga said the assembly is considering the amendment of the law establishing the agency to address the challenges of funding.
He said the assembly will also work closely with the executive to address most of their challenges.
Earlier, the General Manager of the Agency, Abdullahi Labaran appreciated the effort of the assembly and the state government for the support given to the agency to record success in its effort to provide security and other humanitarian services.
He made a passionate appealed to the assembly to capture the activities of the agency in the Ministry of Youth and Sports in the 2021 budget to able them achieve more.
Highlight of the event was the symbolic presentation of NAYES uniform to the members of the committee.
