Save The Children Donates COVID-19 Items To Zamfara Govt, CSOs

The Save The Children International (SCI) has donated COVID-19 Personal Protection Equipments (PPEs) to Zamfara State Government’, CSOs and the media as part of its efforts to complement government’s efforts in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic in the state. 

Presenting the items to beneficiaries in Gusau, the SCI State Advocacy and Communications Officer, Malam Nura Muhammad Abdullahi said the donation was part of the commitment by the SCI to prevent the spread of COVID -19 in the state.

He said the items were donated to the State Technical Working Group (TWG) on Social Protection, State COVID-19 Palliative Distribution and Monitoring Committee and the Zamfara Social Protection Platform (ZSPP).

The SCI Advocacy Officer said that 10 packs of facemasks,  62 pieces of hand sanitizers and 62 packs of liquid soap were donated  to TWG.
Abdullahi added that State Government’s Palliative Distribution and Monitoring Committee received 37 packs of facemasks, 10 pieces of Infra Thermometer, 510 pieces of hand sanitizers, 55 packs of handgloves and 506 pieces of liquid soap. 
He said Zamfara Social Protection Platform (ZSPP) a NGO which comprised Media Practitioners and Civil Society Organisations received 6 packages of face masks, 81 pieces of hand sanitizer and 81 pieces of liquid soap among others. 

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Chairman ZSPP, Alhaji Nasiru Usman Biyabiki commended the efforts of the SCI and promised judicious distribution and utilisation of the items.
The SCI is a Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) funded NGO which is sponsoring and supporting measures to strengthen Social Protection System in the state
The SCI had earlier spent six years (2013 – 2019) implementing DFID funded Child Development Grant Programme (CDGP) in the state.
