At least, 15.7 billion Naira revenue has been generated into the purse of the Federal Government by the KLT Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service between January and September 2020.
The amount surpassed the 15.1 billion Naira generated during the corresponding period in 2019.
The Comptroller of the Command M.O Oladunni (Mrs) made the disclosure to newsmen in Lagos on Tuesday.
In a release by the Command’s Public Relations Officer ASC 1 JT Ayagbalo, the Comptroller noted that the significant increase was achieved despite the pre and post COVID – 19 pandemic effects and various other challenges.
She displayed the following items as some of the exhibits seized under the period in review, one 1 X 40 FT container laden with 254 cartons of Tramadol (100Mg) concealed with other drugs, one 1X 40 FT container Laden with used tyres, one 1 X 40FT container laden with foreign spaghetti, macaroni and Indomie.
They include one 1X 40 ft container laden with body spray, one 1 X 40 FT container laden with tomato ketchup, one 1X 40 FT container laden with hydro generated oil and 1 X 40 FT container laden with foreign bags of rice, ketchup, salad cream and shawarma bread.
Oladunni disclosed that the seizure has a duty paid value of over 229 Million naira.
The Area Controller appreciated all stakeholders for using the Command facilities despite the numerous challenges encountered but urged them to be honest with their declarations in order to enjoy seamless operations at the Command.
