Newly elected President of Nigeria Baseball/ Softball Federation, Dr. William Boyle has said that his primary objective is to make the Federation vibrant and the sports gain more acceptability in the country.
In a telephone interview with New Nigerian Sports shortly after his election which also saw the emergence of Alhaji Sani as 1st Vice President, Dr (Mrs) Olufolake Abdulrahamn Abdulrasaq (2nd Vice President), Mrs Yemisi Monisola Makanjuola (3rd Vice President), Mr Laniyan Kehinde (Secretary General), Barrister Maurice Mogaji (Asst Secretary General), Mrs Victoria Sodipo (Treasurer), Mr Robert Onwukwe (PRO) and Mr Ayodele Gideon (Asst PRO), he stated that he will run an open door policy and carry board members along before arriving at any decision.
” I’m excited to be elected as the new President of the federation and I promise to put in my best towards not only repositioning the sports but popularizing it among Nigerian youths.
” It’s also my intention to run a transparent administration and will carry all my board members along in the day to day running of the Federation as that’s the only way to succeed and have a peaceful tenure and I hope my board members will corporate with me as we move the game to greater height in the country.
The seasoned sports administrator, also explained that grassroots development of the sports would be vigorously pursued to enable his team produce and nurture future stars in the sports.
” You’re aware that the only way to develop the sports is through massive grassroots development and we hope to introduce the game in more primary and secondary schools as a way of popularising the sports”, he assured.
Boyle while expressing happiness at the peaceful conduct of the election and the pedigree of members of the new board , posited that with the support of members of the board and the Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports, they will succeed in their assignment.
