The All Progressives Congress, (APC), in Oyo State on Thursday commiserated with Governor Seyi Makinde on the death of his mother, Madam Abigail Omojolagbe Makinde at the age of 81years.
APC in a statement by its Oyo state Publicity Secretary, Dr AbdulAzzez Olatunde stated that the news Madam Makinde’s death came to the party and the people of Oyo state as a rude shock.
Emphasizing that “surely,nobody wishes to loose his beloved parent but we are consoled with the fact that she lived a good and worthy life,” saying, “on behalf of all the APC members in Oyo State, we send our Condolences to the Governor of Oyo State,H.E,Engr Seyi Makinde,Oyo State Government and People Democratic Party, Oyo State Chapter(PDP)”.
“We Pray for the forgiveness for the Soul of Madam ABIGAIL OMOJOLAGBE Makinde and also Pray for divine support for all the Children of the departed. Finally, we pray that the soul of Madam ABIGAIL OMOJOLAGBE Makinde enjoys Blissful eternal rest. Amen”.
In its condolence message, Oyo state government in the message signed by the Secretary to State Government (SSG) , Mrs Olubamiwo Adeosun expressed its heartfelt on the demise of Madam Makinde, saying, “while we join millions of indigenes and residents of Oyo State and well-wishers across the globe to condole with His Excellency, Governor Makinde and the entire Makinde family over the departure of our revered matriarch, we are equally thankful to the Almighty, who gave her a glorious and fulfilled life”.
The state government stressed “we are also happy that Almighty God spared her life to witness countless accomplishments of her children, including the election of her son”, adding, “with a deep sense of loss and gratitude to the Almighty for a fruitful life well-spent, the Government of Oyo State hereby announces the passage of Chief (Mrs.) Abigail Makinde, the mother of His Excellency, the Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde, who passed on peacefully at her Ibadan home, in the early hours of Thursday”.
“Our hearts are with the family, on the sudden departure of Mama, who did not show any sign of sickness until she peacefully departed this world.While we join millions of indigenes and residents of Oyo State and well-wishers across the globe to condole with His Excellency, Governor Makinde and the entire Makinde family over the departure of our revered matriarch, we are equally thankful to the Almighty, who gave her a glorious and fulfilled life”.
“We are also happy that Almighty God spared her life to witness countless accomplishments of her children, including the election of her son, Engineer Seyi Makinde, as the 8th democratically elected Governor and Chief Executive of Oyo State. The State Executive Council, and indeed the entire Government of Oyo State, remain particularly thankful for the stabilizing roles Mama played in the Oyo State while she was with us”.
The state government maintained “we can only urge the family to please take solace in the good deeds of Mama, which will remain indelible on the sands of time. May Mama’s soul rest peacefully with the Lord.”
Also, the Chairman Senate Committee on Local Content and Senator representing Oyo Central Senatorial District, Senator Teslim Folarin commiserated with Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, on the death of his mother.Senator Folarin in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Comrade YSO Olaniyi said the death of Madam Abigail Omojolagbe Makinde was a glorious home call of an irreplaceable matriarch.
“I wish to commiserate with former Gov. Seyi Makinde and the entire family on the passage of their matriarch. The death of mama is indeed a great loss, not just to the Makinde family, but the entire state.We can all attest to the fact that Mama lived a fulfilled and exemplary life and this is worthy of emulation,” the lawmaker said.
Senator Folarin while stressing that the deceased would be greatly missed for her motherly role, timely advice, support and consistent prayer for the Makindes and the state at large, Senator Folarin prayed God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss.
