In his determination to make public schools conducive for academic activities, Governor Nasiru el-Rufai has approved the sum of 1.5 Billion Naira for renovating public schools, particularly those whose roofs were blown off by the raining season storms.
This was disclosed by the State’s Commissioner for Education, Shehu Usman Muhammad (PhD) at a Press briefing at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kaduna on plans to reopen schools in phases to avoid communal transmission of the deadly virus .
He said Kaduna state Government was aware of schools with challenges resulting from rainstorm which he noted blew up roofs of classes meant for academic activities, disclosing that thorough stock had already been taken of affected schools , assuring that renovation works would commence immediately.
Explaining achievements recorded in various exams undertaken by candidates who sat for WAEC, NECO and JSS 3 across the state, Dr Muhammad explained that only two Covid19 related cases were recorded out of hundred thousand students that sat for the exams.
Speaking further, the commissioner said Kaduna state had reserved two hostels specifically meant to accommodate persons suspected or tested to be Covid19 positive to isolate them from others.
“I can assure you that measure put in place was used to isolate those two students who were tested positive for Coronavirus.
“They were treated as they wrote their exams and were discharged after they were certified negative and returned home to their parents.” He said.
