The appointment of Engr. Freeborn Edetanlen Okhiria as the Managing Director of Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has been renewed by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Okhiria has therefore begun his second term of another four years, following the approval of his reappointment.
The confirmation of Okhiria’s reappointment was announced in a letter written by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Transportation, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.
“This approval was signed, sealed and conveyed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Dr Magdalene Ajani, via a letter with reference No. SH/COS/17/A/1698 dated 5th October 2020, in accordance with the relevant section of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) Act CAP 129 LFN 2004,” Yakub Mahmood, Deputy Director, Public Relations, Nigerian Railway Corporation, wrote in a Press release.
The press statement dated 11th October 2020 was titled: “Buhari Approves Second Term for MD NRC.”
Mahmood described Okhiria as a seasoned technocrat who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Lagos (UNILAG).
The NRC image maker said that the managing director worked as an engineer in the mechanical/electrical department of the corporation, and rose to the position of the director, Techanical, Mechanical, Signal and Telecommunications.
Okhiria also served as district manager at Zaria and Lagos at different times, the NRC DDPR disclosed.
