Lagos State government’s year 2020 Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCAH) Week will take place in all the Primary Healthcare Centres (PHC) in the state from Monday 5th to 9th October 2020.
The event offers opportunity for pregnant women, nursing mothers, teenage girls and caregivers to enjoy free healthcare services for the duration of the week.
Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, wife of Lagos State governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, flagged off the week-long ceremonyat Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Secretariat during the weekend.
Sanwo-Olu frowned at the rate at which pregnant women, nursing mothers and teenagers, who for their healthcare needs, patronise quacks who claim to be traditional birth attendants.
She appealed to citizens, community leaders and members of the Lagos State Traditional Medicine Board to intensify efforts at exposing those involved in quackery in the community.
Sanwo-Olu urged all pregnant women and caregivers to take advantage of the free healthcare services to be provided during the week which will start from Monday, 5th to Friday, 9th October, 2020 across all the Primary Healthcare Centres and designated sites in the state.
