Minister Applauds Judgement Sentencing Senator Abbo Over Assault

The Minister of Women Affiars, Dame Pauline Tallen has commended the Nigerian judiciary for sentencing Senator Elisha Abbo   representing Adamawa North Senotorial district for assulting Ms Osimibibra Warmate in 2019.
Tallen made the commendation in a press statement following the judgement of an Abuja high court delivered on Monday 28 September sentencing the senator to a fine of 50 million Naira for assaulting the woman.
The statement, signed by Shehu Maikai, Director Press, added that the judgement will serve as a detterant to other male  chauvinists, be they in high or low places, who take pleasure in harassing and maltreating women.
It added further that the Ministry of Women Affairs and other stakeholders are determined as ever to take all necessary steps to checkmate all incidences of gender based violence.

Tallen concluded that there is no more safe havens for rapist, lady tomentors, and other gender based violators in Nigeria.
