The Plateau State chapter of Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), has petitioned the State Commissioner of Police, against a blogger, Masara Kim, over a publication alleging that a meeting was held to raise funds for arms purchase by Fulani at Jos Central Mosque.
Titled, “Complain against false statement spread by one Masarakim,” signed by Publicity Secretary, Sani Mudi, they told the commissioner that Masara Kim published the false allegations on his internet blog.
The petition dated September 2020 22, with an acknowledgement of receipt on September 23, was also copied to Governor Simon Lalong, the Commander Operation Safe Heaven as well as State Director of SSS.
It said, it has become necessary to bring the complaint to the office of the CP, against Masara Kim who, “wrote and published on his internet blog on September 18, 2020 that Fulani herdsmen attacked and displaced native community in the Barkin Ladi LGA and renamed the community Tafawa.”
However, the JNI said it is concerned, where the writer alleged the use of the Jos Central Mosque as the meeting venue of the Fulani, at which the monies were raised.
“That the same Fulani held a meeting on 16 August, 2020 at the Jos Central Mosque where they raised over N2m (Two Million Naira) for the purchase of arms from Niger Republic,” it said.
According to it, as custodians of the Jos Central Mosque, they hereby debunk the content of the publication especially the unfortunate assertion that its premises were used for such meeting.
“The Jama’atu Nasril Islam finds the unfortunate publication highly injurious to its hard-earned reputation as a peace loving and peace promoting religious organization.”
It also said that although, Masarakim has since removed the publication in question from the internet, they have saved its content.
“We therefore, pray the police will investigate this unfortunate and spurious allegation capable of plunging the state and the nation into avoidable chaos and breach of the peace,” .
