Two former state governors, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu of Niger State and his old counter part from Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, governor of Bauchi state, Bala Mohammed and Tanimu Turaki, SAN, a former presidential aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party in the last general elections were guests to former Military President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida at the weekend.
Tanimu Turaki was also former federal minister during Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s regime. The four were the weekend guests to the former Military President at his Hilltop residence in Minna.
The visit, though private, nonetheless attracted the eavesdropping ears of some Journalists who kept their tabs around the city to catch the political bigwigs for an interview or snap shot of the big wigs. However, the visit kept to it’s billing as purely a private issue as no Journalist got wind of the meeting nor the venue.
The meeting held behind closed doors inside the palatial mansion of the former military president, lasted for over three and half hours as the host and his guests stayed indoors without giving a clue or hint of their meeting.
The guests, led by former governor of Niger state, had earlier arrived at the Minna Airport on board a charted aircraft at about noon.
They were immediately conveyed out of the Airport in four chauffeur  driven Sports Utility Vehicles to the Hilltop residence of the former military General.
After initial exchange of pleasantries and banters from their host, the guests moved into a secluded room where they sat with their host for hours.
At 3:45pm, it was time for few photo shots and the few aides to the visitors who were at hand were ushered into the room for snap shots.
The meeting continued behind shut doors but ended shortly after 4:00pm when the guests emerged from the room to say their afternoon prayers.
None of visitors agreed to speak on the meeting with the former military ruler but feelers within, insisted  it was “purely a private visit to the former leader”.
After the prayers, the guests boarded the vehicles that brought them to the house hours earlier and were driven back to the Airport to return to Abuja.
General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida has remained a reference point on many domestic and political issues.
Politicians of all shades and divides make regular visit to his Hilltop residence on homage and for consultation.                      ==//==
