Banditry: Troops Lose Officer, Two Soldiers, Kill 21, Rescue 8 Months Baby

Troops of Operation Sahel Sanity have  killed 21 bandits and lost one officer, two soldiers in a gun duel in the ongoing operations to rid the North West of banditry and other criminals.
A statement by the Acting Director, Defence Media Operations, Brig. Bernard Onyeuko said the troops also rescued three kidnapped victims including an eighth months old baby abducted about 23 days ago.
Onyeuko explained that on 24th September, the troops on getting wind of an attack in Unguwar Doka village of Faskari local government area of Katsina state  mobilized and cleared the successfully cleared the village of the marauders.
“Regrettably, resulting from the encounter with the bandits, one gallant officer and  2 soldiers paid the supreme sacrifice while 2 other soldiers were wounded in action and are currently receiving medical treatment in a military medical facility,” he said.

The Acting Director, added that during the encounter, troops successfully neutralized 21 bandits while others escaped with gunshot wounds into the forest as evident by the trails of blood along the criminals’ escape route.
Onyeuko said the fearless troops have continued to pursue the bandits into the forest and dominating the general areas with aggressive fighting patrols to deny them any respite.
