The ousted Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) in Niger State, Engr. Mohammed Jibrin Imam was on Wednesday taken into the correctional facility in Minna as more dark clouds continue to hang over the APC’s household in Niger State.
The party, (APC) has been engrossed in internal crisis for over three months. Chairman of the party was thrown out of his office and a caretaker committee raised to pilot the affairs of the party in the party.
The party’s leadership in the state had last month suspended the Chairman of the party over alleged misappropriation of over half a billion naira, property of the party in the state.
Feelers closed to the Secretariat of the party in Minna, told our correspondent that the suspended Chairman was back in the news as the police sent an order asking him to report at the state police command on failingly.
Our source linked the state governor, Abubakar Sani Bello as the man behind the mask in the order for the Chairman of the party to report at the police command.
The suspended party Chairman along with the Secretary of the party, Mohammed Liman and the State Treasurer, Dr. Mohammed Shashi were at the state police command on the invite by the police for questioning.
Sources said the trio were initially detained for over three hours as they faced interrogation by police detectives.
The amount believed to be unaccounted for is put at N300 million naira. It was not however immediately clear if the figure, =N=300 was a fresh allegation beside the =N= 600 earlier laid on the suspended Chairman of the party in the state.
This latest travails if the suspended Chairman followed a petition to the police by the party’s Financial Secretary, Mohammed Idris Gbagbam.
Gbagbam had petitioned the police against the Chairman of the party over the missing money.
When the Chairman reported at the police command, he was detained on Tuesday night after honouring invitations by the police at the Headquarters of the police Command.
The Secretary of the party, Mohammed Liman and the State Treasurer, Dr. Mohammed Shashi who were arrested along with the Chairman of the party, were however released after two hours of interrogation.
The state Commissioner of Police, Adamu Usman has confirmed that the state APC Chairman was under investigation over allegations of fraud by a petitioner but declined to give further details.
The derobed Chairman of the party was seen as he made way to board the vehicle to convey him to the correctional facility. ==//==
