CNG Petition’s Buhari, Seeks For Prosecution Of Zamfara Bandits Collaborators

The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has petitioned President Muhammad Buhari over the blood letting in Zamfara and other parts of the North.
Presenting the petition to the Speaker, Zamfara State House of Assembly, Nasiru Magarya, the CNG Spokesman, Abdul’Azeez Suleiman lamented the ugly security scenario in the state despite the several measures being taken by the government.
Suleiman said  the situation in Zamfara is becoming worse due to the activities of some selfish and heartless individuals whom he described as the enemies of the people.
“We call on President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure that all those figured to be supporting or collaborating with bandits in Zamfara state are arrested and prosecuted no matter how big or influential they are as they are the greatest threat to peace and tranquility in the country,” he said.
The CNG spokesperson said the disturbing reports of bandits and internal collaborators is creating a fearful society therefore the need by relevant authorities to take drastic measures to nib it in the bud.

We are here to condemned what happened in the state recently when some politicians attack the state police command to rescue some of their members arrested by the police. We condemned their action and want appropriate lawful action taken,” he said.
He said Zamfara State has for long faced problems with armed groups stealing cattle, kidnapping for ransom and attacking communities.

“More recently, there has been a growth in informal mining activity in this mineral-rich region, which has attracted people from outside the state, further fuelling instability,” he said.
Responding, the Speaker, Zamfara State House of Assembly, Alhaji Nasiru Magarya reiterated commitments to promote security in the state. 
Magarya represented by the Chairman of the House Committee on Basic and Formal Education, Yusuf Kanoma said the assembly is committed in promoting security sector in order ensure protection of lives of the people of the state.
“We are aware that despite the peace achieved by the state some elements want. We commend the coalition over it’s concern in protection of lives and properties of citizens of the state,” he said.
Magarya assured that the petition will be delivered to governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle to forward to President Muhammad Buhari. 
The coalition before heading to the Zamfara State House of Assembly to present their protest letter for onward delivery to the President staged a peaceful street protest/ walk carrying placards round some major roads in Gusau the Zamfara state capital
