Two suspected armed robbers have been arrested by police operatives in Lagos over alleged snatching of a Toyota Corolla car from its owner.
The victim, identified simply as Utibe, who uses the car, marked LND 448 GH as Uber, was said to have been dispossessed of it at Abijo GRA, Ibeju Lekki on 20th September 2020, at about 11.30pm.
Our correspondent learnt that the suspects identified as Okem Monday, 26 and Lawrence Daniel, 20, were nabbed by police operatives attached to Area” J” Ajah at Mayfair Garden in Ibeju Lekki area of the state.
It was also gathered that one axe, stained with blood, and one knife were recovered from the suspects.
The police public relations officer SP Muyiwa Adejobi confirmed the arrest in a release made available to journalists on Tuesday.
It reads, ” The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers who attacked one Uber driver named Utibe, m, on 20th September 2020, at 11.30pm, and snatched his Toyota Corola car with Reg. No LND 448 GH at Abijo GRA, Ibeju Lekki.
On the receipt of the distress call, the Area Commander Area J, Ajah, despatched a team to the scene and traced the snatched car to Mayfair Garden, Ibeju Lekki, where the suspects were arrested, driver rescued and the car recovered. The Police also recovered one axe, stained with blood, and one knife from the suspects.
The driver, who was seriously injured, is receiving treatment at a hospital within Lagos State and recuperating.
The Commissioner of Police Lagos State, CH Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered for discreet investigation into the case, while he warned those who are planning to engage in criminal acts or have been involved in one crime or the other to desist and flee Lagos State , or else, they meet their waterloo in no time”.
