Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State was on Monday alongside his Deputy, Senator Baba Salihu Tela inducted as members of the Rotary International club in the state
Their induction as members of the global body came in the wake of official visit to the state by the club’s District Governor, District 9125, Rotarian Jumoke Theophilus Bamigboye at the Government House, Bauchi
Governor Bala Mohammed while accepting the stimulus said his administration will work with the Rotary International to overcome and address infrastructure and services gaps in the state.
According to him, his administration will similarly reestablish the club in Bauchi to enable communities of the state access community interventions by international organizations through the club.
He recalled that, Rotary International is a club that associated with community development, international exposure, governance and raising the GDP of communities.
Bala told Rotarians, “I am happy that this visit is coming during my tenure, we want Rotary to come back to Bauchi especially now and I am ready to work with you for the development of our communities”.
“We are happy that as leaders, you and your husband, you have made a lot of impact in Bauchi through the opportunity of leading the state. You are heroes of Bauchi state”, he said.
The Governor also commended the club for its positive contributions towards polio eradication in Nigeria, as well as working towards the wellbeing of various communities in the land.
He thanked the former Military Administrator of Bauchi state, Retired Colonel Theophilus Bamigboye who is part of the club for his continued working relationship with the Bauchi state government.
The Club District Governor, District 9125, Mrs. Jumoke Bamigboye and wife of the former Bauchi State Military Administrator, said the visit is to seek for the support of the Governor Bala Mohammed for the reestablishment of the club in the state.
Rotarian Jumoke Bamigboye said the club currently focused attention on 7 areas of basic education and literacy, water, sanitation and hygiene, tree planting, maternal and child health in addition to community economic development.
“Your Excellency we thank you for giving us the opportunity to see you, to talk about Rotary. Your Excellency is not new to you that we have succeeded in eradicating polio in Nigeria by extension in Africa. Rotary was in the forefront of this development.”
She added, “We are here to tell you that we are ready to bring good things to Bauchi state and our courtesy visit to you is to appreciate you for what you are doing to communities of Bauchi state and we acknowledge the ongoing developmental projects in the state.”
The Rotary District Governor urged people of the state to embrace Rotary Club International so as to benefit from its humanitarian activities.
The State’s former military administrator, Retired Colonel Theophilus Bamigboye, a member of Rotary International Club and husband of the District Governor, has earlier expressed satisfaction over rapid development in the state.
