Oni said the resolute actions displayed by Edo electorate against those flaunting and relying on Federal might were eye opener that the will of the people can’t be subdued in any electoral contest.

The PDP stalwart reminded the reelected governor that he should deploy his energy to give Edo electorate, who acted as defenders of democracy the requisite gains of their hard fought battle, rather than dissipating such to fighting his political adversaries.
“The Edo political event was a watershed in the history of our dear nation. It showed that free and fair election is possible if interferences cease to exist from high places while lending credence to the fact that God is the sole giver of power and not godfather.
“The fierce political battle also substantiated the long standing democratic slogan that the people’s power is supreme and mightier than any power, be it incumbency power of a state Governor or federal might of the President.
“I salute the good people of Edo State for acting like real troops and foot-soldiers of our democracy. I urge that such patriotic spirit of resoluteness would be brought to bear in Ondo, Ekiti and Osun elections, if only to nurture our democracy to maturity.
“The security agencies and the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) should also be applauded for exhibiting patriotic zeal and allowed the will of the people to prevail over primordial interest of the political class.
“The unity of purpose that brought this landmark victory for PDP must be sustained, to save Nigeria from impending doom that stares us in the face in view of efforts by a small clique to always subvert the will of the people.”Engr Segun Oni Admonished
