As Nigeria joins the rest of the world to mark the International Peace Day, Kurmin –Mashi community, Barakallahu and Down Quarters have received peace awards for strengthening peaceful relationship between Christians and Muslims.
The awards were given by a Non Governmental Organization (NGO), Peace Revival and Reconciliation Foundation (PRRF).
Speaking during the occasion, the National President Peace Revival and Reconciliation Foundation of Nigeria, Pastor Yohanna Buru said that the three communities were honoured for the sustenance of peace and unity in the state.
“Despite the ethno-religious political crisis that has affected peace stability in the state, Kurmin –Mashi -community, Barakallahu and Down Quarters have remained united as one.
Responding, the District Head of Kurmin –Mashi, Alhaji Abdullahi Rabo expressed delight for the award to the community as one of the best in the state that encourages peaceful co-existance.
Also, the District Head of Down-Quarters, Alhaji Danjuma Musa said that the joy of every community leader is to maintain peace and unity among the people in the community.
Musa Added that uniting the people is what they dedicate their lives to doing.
