Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) Zaria has introduced online and virtual training programmes for its students, to enable them sustain their training knowledge as a result of the COVID -19 pandemic.
The Rector of the College, Captain Abdullsalami Mohammed who made this known to journalists in his office in Zaria, while interacting on the college’s development.
Captain Abdulsalamu said the introduction of the online and virtual training is as a result of the global pandemic COVID-19, which grounded all activities including the education sector not only in Nigeria, but the world over.
He said NCAT will not be left out in observing the COVID-19 protocols such as social distancing, crowd avoidance and hand washing for the safety of both staff and students .
The Rector also said the College will open a new school for airport emergency, training security personnel in aviation and airline transport license which is equivalent to master’s degree.
He further said that two new courses were introduced which are multi crew coordination and jet orientation for pilots aimed to prepare the newly graduated pilots for employment by the airline.
According to the Rector, the course will take them two years to graduate from the newly introduced courses and has plans for more courses to be introduced.
Captain Abdussalami Mohammed said that NCAT is a training Institute, where it is encouraging state governors, companies and well meaning Nigerians to sponsor students who have no capacity to be in the college because of financial problems.
