UNICEF Nigeria in partnership with Almajiri Child Right Initiative Nigeria (ACRI) through its WASH Programme on COVID-19 response, has distributed Medicated & Antiseptic Soaps to several vulnerable households at different locations in Kaduna State.
Our correspondent spotted ACRI’s representative Rekyia Shedu, who led a team of humanitarian volunteers to Ungwan Bulus in Sabon Tasha, Chikun Local Government Area, distribute the soaps to hundreds of households, who were visibly excited to have benefitted from the gesture.
According to her, the gesture was aimed at curbing the spread of the virus and also improve better hygiene for the Almajiri households in the communities.
Also speaking, ACRI Kaduna State Coordinator, Suraj Ola Abdulwahab said that the distribution cuts across several LGAs in Kaduna State.
“We distributed the soaps in the following communities; Ungwan Bulus (Chikun Local Government Area), Kaduna South, Hayin Dan Mani, Zagina and Kamfanin communities in (Igabi Local Government Area) and Ungwan Junima and Ungwan Malamai Tudun Wada (Zaria Local Government Area),” he said.
In an interview with our correspondent, one of the beneficiaries in Ungwan Bulus thanked the group for donating the soaps.
“We are very happy with this gifts we are receiving. They are coming at the right time because most of us around here are going through hardship,” Mrs. Jemima Luka said.
