Former governor of Niger State and erstwhile Chairman of the 19 Northern Governors Forum, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu has described the passage of the Emir of Zazzau as a huge loss to Nigeria.
In a condolence message issued in Minna, Niger state, the former governor who is also the Talban Minna, a front line traditional title, mourned the demise of one of Nigeria’s longest serving traditional rulers who passed on earlier today in Zaria following a brief ill health.
In the message, Dr. Babangida Aliyu noted that “with total submission to the will of Allah, the death of the Emir Zazzau, His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr.) Shehu Idris, CFR. is indeed a huge, irreparable loss”.
The former two time governor of Niger state noted with pains as he registered his sympathy and condolence to the entire Zazzau Emirate, the people and government of Kaduna state, the people of northern Nigeria and Nigeria as a whole over this sad loss.
His Royal Highness, Dr. Shehu Idris, was until his passage, one of the longest serving traditional rulers in Nigeria. His death is indeed a huge, sad loss to all and sundry.
While expressing his condolence, Dr. Babangida Aliyu said he was indeed saddened by the demise of the Emir whom he described as a great leader, a sage, a father and one of Nigeria’s long serving traditional rulers and a strong pillar and custodian of the culture and traditions of his subjects.
He prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased first class and foremost traditional ruler and prayed Allah to grant him a permanent rest place in paradise (Aljanna Firdausi).
The Emir passed on at the age of 84 in his country home, Zaria following a brief ill health. ==//==
