Gov Bala Hails Bauchi Assembly For Legislating 16 Bills Into Law

Governor Bala Mohammed has observed that no Assembly in the country has in the first one year of its legislation, achieved an unprecedented feat of passing into law a number of 16 bills as exemplified by the Bauchi State House of Assembly.

The Governor, who was speaking Wednesday while assenting to the Bauchi State Road Traffic Agency (BAROTA) said it is to provide for the regulation, control and management of traffic in the state and other matters thereof.

He explained that the enactment of the law and establishment of the agency will sanitize towns and villages in the state and equally provide employment to the teeming youths, as well as deepen responsibility and responsiveness.

Bala, while stressing that the bills were done in the best interest of the state and the nation at large, said that the establishment of the agency would also put aside some of the obscenity, encroachment, conflicts between the Ministries of Environment, lands and Survey, and Local Government Affairs.

He assured the State Assembly and indeed Nigerians generally that his administration will establish a robust agency and select people of integrity to man it with a view to ensuring justice and equity in running its affairs

The governor also stressed the need for sanitizing the public on the activities of the agency to ensure that people abide by the rules and regulations governing it, saying both the Legislature and Executive would be leaving legacies that would stand the test of time.


Earlier presenting the BAROTA bill to the governor for his assent, the BAHA Speaker, Abubakar Yakubu Suleiman said the passage of the bill will among others, create employment opportunity for the state teeming youths, control traffic and inculcate discipline in traffic flow to motorists.

Speaker Suleiman enumerated, “It is the 16th since our assumption to office and coincidently today is 16the Sept signing the 16th bill of the state. Just like other bills assented to, this bill is also very important as the previous ones”.

Rt. Hon. Speaker Suleiman said BAROTA is also expected to significantly improve the state internally generated revenue (IGR)and reassured the governor of the legislators renewed mutual cooperation for the development of Bauchi state and its people.
