Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH), Shika Zaria, Health Sector Union (JOHESU) has joined the national body of the union on a 7-day warning strike beginning from Monday 13th September ,2020.
Addressing the congress members, the branch joint Chairman, Comrade Lawal Toafeeq Babsalam said the union is committed to continuing working with the Federal Government and all stakeholders in its bid to improve the ailing and over stretched health system with necessary reform in public interest.
He warned saboteurs among the staff to change or else the union will take serious measures on such categories of staff.
He said, they are aware about such staff attitude towards compromising their boss’ directives.
Comrade Babsalam expressed appreciation to members of the union for their untiring support to the struggle to get what they have been denied for years.
According to the national body, they are embarking on a 7-day warning strike over the payment of shortfall arising from the implementation of COVID -19 special inducement and hazard allowance.
Also, the payment of all withheld salaries of members at Federal Medical Centre Owerri, LUTH including April and May 2018 salaries.
The union is also pressing for the adjustment of CONHESS salary structure as well as the implementation of ADR Consent Judgement and the issues of infrastructural and structural decay among other demands.
Comrade Lawal Taofeeq Babsalam appealed to members of the union to remain at home to wait for further directives from the national headquarters of the union.
