Ogun State Government has initiated a partnership with O’odua Infraco Resource Limited, to improve access to internet connectivity across the state.
State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, TPL Olatunji Odunlami said this, during a meeting with a delegation of the company in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
This if achieved, the Commissioner said would deepen compliance to Information Technology (IT) among citizens
TPL Odunlami expressed the Ministry’s readiness to synergise with the company, to chart a roadmap that would make the internet connectivity project effective.
The Commissioner emphasised the need for the company to observe the ‘right of way’ in the process of laying the fiber optic, to prevent obstruction in order to engender seamless location of the facilities, with clear distinctions on the ‘right of way’ which belong to the State and Federal Governments.
“The ‘right of way’ is only reserved for road maintenance, if any other thing is to be done on it, there is need to seek the approval of the State Government because it is important to observe and establish the ‘right of way’ in the process of laying the fiber optic,” he said.
Earlier in his address, the Group Head, O’ODUA Infraco Resource Limited, Mr. Jimoh Sikiru, explained that the project was a Federal Government initiative and would be supervised by the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC), to create a road channel for telecommunication operators.
He therefore assured the Commissioner of the organisation’s readiness, to collaborate with the government and actively link private agencies to enjoy the facility.
