NGO commends Zamfara state government  for approving Social Protection Policy


The Zamfara Social Protection Platform (ZSPP) an NGO comprising Media Practitioners, CSOs and Academia has commended the Zamfara State Government for approving Social Protection Policy (SPP) in the state.
A statement by the Chairman of the Platform, Alhaji Nasiru Biyabiki said the approval of the SPP will would help in harmonising social protection activities and programmes in the state.
Biyabiki said the policy will go a long way in reducing poverty level among vulnerable citizens of the state.
“Its our ardent prayer that may this milestone be one of the sources of having a better society much focused in downing poverty level and bridging the gap between the vulnerable groups and mainstream society in the State,” he said.

The Platform chairman thanked all the stakeholders who worked day and night to ensure the realization of the policy from zero draft to the level of approval by the state government. 

“We thank Almighty Allah Who gave us the wisdom and strength to pursue this goal, additional thanks also to State Team Leader, Save the Children international (SCI) and his team, Commissioner and Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of  Budget and Economic Planning,” he said.

Biyabiki also appreciated the efforts of the Director General and Secretary of the State Executive Council, members of ZSPP, the Media, Government representatives and individuals who worked towards promoting SPP in the state.
It will be recalled that the State Executive Council Meeting on Thursday approved the Social Protection Policy.
Then Council also approved the formation of the Social Protection Council and directed the State Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning to come up with implementation frame work for the SPP.
The ZSPP is being supported by the Save the Children international (SCI) to promote Social Protection activities in Zamfara state.
