A meeting aimed to oust the Jigawa State All Progressives’ Congress (APC) Chairman, Alh. Habibu Sani Sara has flopped and described as a charade by the embattled APC party chairman.
Addressing a press conference while opening up in Dutse, Sara said that the whole scenario came up as a result of a purported APC meeting held at Government House Dutse at the instance of some aggrieved party officials who are against their leadership, describing the episode as illegal, and unconstitutional.
” Constitutionally only party Chairman has the mandate to call for a meeting, and such a meeting should only hold at the party’s secretariat and not at Government House as it occurred “
On the purported claims that the party chairman was relieved of his position based on recommendations of the aforementioned meeting, Sara reiterated that up to time of filing this report, he was yet to receive an official letter to that effect.
He contended that as far as he was concerned, he remains the state party chairman, since no body served him with an impeachment letter approving his disengagement as APC state party chairman.
During the purported meeting, Alh. Habibu Sara was relieved of his position as the Jigawa APC State Chairman and replaced by the party’s secretary, action’s which he described as illegal and unconstitutional.
According to him, there are laid down procedures of relieving any official of the party if found wanting in the course of his assignment, stressing that there wasn’t a time he was accused of breach of office.
“And if at all I was found wanting, I expect to be charged before a panel of investigation to defend myself but none was served to me.
Other resolutions include the setting up of an investigative panel to probe allegations of financial irregularities leveled against the state officials of the APC.
But to the party’s chairman, Alh. Habibu Sara, all the frivolous claims are surprising as all are politically motivated just to smear his reputation and dent his image, being a close associate to the party’s future gubernatorial hopeful, Alh. Sabo Nakudu.
On the probe panel, Sara stated, “I am not afraid of any probe as my record’s are clear and straight forward.
“We spent over N9m monthly in running the affairs of our party. This includes payment of salary to our workers, leaders, and welfare to our teeming supporters, among others.”
He added that they are not gittery of probe, as their records of performance are clear and straight forward.
