The management of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has assured that it will continue to practice Citizens Diplomacy with the new Visa Regime whereby reciprocity and fair treatment of Nigerians will attract same.
Similarly, it emphasised that the fundamental rights of every traveler to Nigeria will be accorded high esteem.
The national public relations officer of the Service James Sunday, a Deputy Comptroller, who made the submission in a write up on citizens’ integrity and national passport, posited that evaluation of Nigerian passport as a travel document and Citizens integrity determines how many countries will allow a Nigerian Citizen entry into their country under which condition and for how long.
He stated, ” Nigeria Immigration Service will continue to practice Citizens Diplomacy with the new Visa regime whereby reciprocity and fair treatment of our citizens will attract same, while the Fundamental Rights of every traveler to Nigeria is given high esteem.
The quality of a national passport is not only in good finishing and look, but what determines its acceptance to the global communities is more on the integrity of the citizens that rubs on the integrity of the passport they are holding.
Acceptance  evaluation of Nigerian passport as a travel document and Citizens integrity  determines how many countries will allow a Nigerian Citizen entry into their country under which condition and for how long.
With the Nigeria Immigration Service uploading of 150,000 Stolen and Lost Travel Documents (SLTD ) to the database of the International Police Global System IPSG and the rating of Nigeria as the 1st Country in Africa and 54th in the world to automate its uploading system and to have uploaded such quantity, is an indication that the Nigeria Immigration Service is not resting on its oars and the i-24/7 centre of the service is working around the clock 24/7 accessing diffusions from the INTERPOL General Assembly to analyse, interrogate and interpret for domestic consumption and International actions to be taken.
The result of such analysis, Interrogation and interpretation is the upload of the 150,000 Stolen and Lost Travel Documents which by implication puts Nigeria on an ascension on global podium of integrity, secured economy, and   safe for investment, an indication that the Nigeria Immigration Service system is working to detect, identify and classify the various passports that were invalidated, Stolen, lost, fake and tampered with uploading them for the 194 Interpol member countries to act accordingly in line of the diffusion request, Nigeria, Africa’s largest economy is rising to the challenge through Citizens integrity which prompted the NIS to ensure that every Nigerian travelling out of the country travels with his or her passport.
The fight against identity theft was part of the reason for the change from the Colonial passport, Hand written, Machine Readable passport (MRP), to the E-Passport, and now the enhanced e-passport with over 25 security features among other factors to guarantee the safety of the holder and the document in line with ICAO standard and international best practices.
Nigeria,Africa’s largest economy ascension as the world’s 30 largest economy would be further substantiated by the Citizens and passport integrity drive embarked upon deliberately by the NIS through automation of service machineries among which is the automation of the i-24 /7 platform for interpol SLTD that made Nigeria the 1st in Africa and 54th in the world to have automated, businesses will strive when there is trust repose by investors on the citizens and the environment is friendly without fraudulent documentation especially the passport which is a symbol of our true identity should open the gate of every other country to Nigerians traveling with the right attitude and consciousness of Citizens integrity which is personal as our lifestyle is first individualistic before it becomes a national issue.
