Man Receives 10 Strokes, Pays N25K For Raping Minor In Nasarawa

A 48 years old man identified as Abdulkadir Zakari of Agbonju Village in Wamba Local Government Area of Nasarawa State has received 10 strokes of cane for defiling a seven-year old girl of Gbata Community of the same local government area.
Zakari was caught by the mother of the girl when she saw the victim having carnal knowledge of her little daughter.
Father of the victim Ishiaka disclosed that they heard his daughter crying when they saw her with the culprit, Abdullkadir Zakari, in the dark place behind his compound.
Ishiaka stated that, he reported the matter to the village head of Agbonju, Malam Sule Audu seeking for justice.
However, the man who is a family friend to the father of the victim, pleaded guilty to the crime, and appealed for pardon, blaming the devil for the dastardly act.
Meanwhile, the village head of Agbonju, Sule Audu, asked that the culprit should be giving ten strokes of cane and charged him to pay the sum of N25,000 to the family of the victim.
Similarly, the director Peace Advocacy and Human Rights Activist, (PAHRA), Comrade Newman Solomon Maitoro, condemned the act of incessant occurrence of rape in the society.
Maitoro who visited the scene of the crime disclosed that the little girl was denied proper medical attention and asked ward head Mua’zu Usman to ensure the victim receive adequate medication.
New Nigerian learnt that the 48 yrs old bachelor Abdullkadir Zakari had been arrested for issues relating to rape on several occasions.
Investigation further reviewed that Zakari was caught two years ago for raping a little girl at the village call Bude the neighbouring community bordering Agbonju settlement.
Agbonju is a village comprises of 43 households which share border with Gbata community and they are both located along Akwanga/Wamba road distancing about five kilometers.
