Governor Mai Mala Buni has on Thursday flagged-off the foundation ceremony of 15 housing units of 2bedroom houses under the Plan Intervention Down North-East Disaster Relief for internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) sponsored by Shell, Total and NNPC in Damaturu.
The ceremony took place along Maiduguri road adjacent to Red Bricks Housing Damaturu.
Speaking at the occasion, Governor Mai Mala Buni stated that during the period of post-insurgency, the state government in collaboration with international Non-governmental organizations have succeeded in rebuilding government offices, schools, Hospitals and other vital public infrastructure to restore social services and livelihood in the affected communities.
The Governor who was represented by Commissioner for Housing and Urban development Alhaji Bukar Dauda said, sit-up materials for businesses and income generation for self-sustainability are provided to the IDPS free of charge.
He said that, there is no doubt when the fifteen units of the 2bedroom houses are completed, they would bring succour to the families of the beneficiaries.
Governor Mai Mala Buni expressed gratitude to the Shell Nigeria Limited, Total and NNPC for their support in providing permanent shelter for the victims of the insurgency in the state and urged other corporate bodies and well to-do individuals to emulate them in this noble Humanitarian gesture.
He called on the beneficiaries to utilize the edifice for the purpose intended.
