Northern Governors have been called upon to constitute a high powered committee that would serve as an economic advisory council for the economic progress in the region after the COVID-19 pandemic which is a challenge economically.
The call was made by Alhaji Ahmed Yusuf, an economic analyst and current affairs commentator in an interview with our correspondent, adding that Northern region needs excellent plans that would bring more conducive economic progress to bridge the wide gap that is becoming a great threat in the region as seen in every state.
He stressed that, “although the COVID-19 pandemic is a global issue, our governors should take the issue of economic reconstruction with seriousness and constitute an economic advisory council that would work selflessly in planning best strategies that can restore lost economic glory in the Northern states”.
Alhaji Ahmed Yusuf, who is a retired accountant said that the economic advisory council should not be politicised, but must consist of experienced professionals that are recognised in the field of economic reconstruction and master planners in boosting national economy.
In conclusion, the economic analyst assured that constitution of the said economic advisory council would certainly contribute to the successful implementation of other economy-related programmes in the Northern states because such advisory committees are important despite challenges in a democratic dispensation.
