Ogun First Lady Pledges Government’s Commitment To Inmates, Others

In commemoration of the International Day of Charity, Wife of the Ogun State Governor, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun has assured of continued support to inmates, less-privileged and vulnerable in the society.

Mrs. Abiodun made the pledge at the Nigeria Correctional Service, Ogun State Command, Ibara, Abeokuta.

According to her, government and individuals have the responsibility of checking on inmates and catering for their needs because they form an integral part of the society.

The first lady who was represented by the Wife of the State Commissioner for Urban and Physical Planning, Mrs. Comfort Odunlami encouraged the inmates to adequately utilise the opportunity of the various vocations and be determined to put them to use when they are back in the society, to enhance their livelihood.

Speaking on behalf of the Officer in charge of the Command, Deputy Comptroller of Correction, Mr. Damero Shuaib, the Chief Superintendent of Correction and Social Welfare Officer, Mr. Abdulhakeem Awesu, appreciated Mrs. Abiodun’s demonstration of love for the inmates, urging government to further look into their plight.

The First Lady’s team also visited Hansens Disease Centre, Iberekodo, Destitute shelter at Lafenwa and the less- privileged in Ilisan Remo as well as Ijebu- Ode among others.
