Nigeria’s COVID-19 Update: 162 New Cases, Total 54,905

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has said there were 162 new cases of Novel CoronaVirus disease (COVID-19) in fourteen states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja on Saturday.

It listed the COVID-19-infected  areas in the following order: Lagos 53, Gombe 21, Oyo 19, Delta 12, Ondo 11, Plateau 10, Ebonyi 9, FCT 6, Kwara 6, Kaduna 5, Rivers 3, Ogun 2, Anambra 2, Imo 2 and Ekiti 1.

NCDC announced on its twitter account on Saturday that as of 11.43 p.m. on Saturday 5th September 2020 Nigeria had recorded a total of 54,905 confirmed cases of COVID-19 pandemic.


The national disease control agency said that out of the total, 42,922 people had been treated and discharged from Nigeria’s COVID-19 isolation centres, while 1,054 of the cases had died in the country since the index case was discovered in the nation.
