NIS, 17 Local Govt Councils Begin Operation Rid Plateau Of Irregular Migrants

Irregular Migrants are in for a hard time in Plateau state, as the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) commences an operation to rid the state of irregular migrants in conjunction with 17 Local Government Councils in the state.
The operation is consequent upon the expiration of the six months Presidential Amnesty period as regards the registration of resident migrants in the country.
Arrangement to commence the mopping up exercise  has commenced in earnest, as the Comptroller of Immigration Service Plateau State Command Nana Kemi Nandap summoned the  Divisional Immigration Officers (DIOs) from the Seventeen(17) local governments of the state for a meeting on Tuesday on the modality for the operation 
The national public relations officer of NIS Sunday James, a Deputy Comptroller, made the disclosure in a release made available to journalists.
According to the release, the exercise is targetted at those who are still not registered, to get them complied through enforcement.      
The release also stated that the Comptroller General of Immigration Service Muhammad Babandede has just constituted a Comptroller General of Immigration Enforcement and Compliance team, that are empowered to visit states across the country to ensure Compliance and where necessary enforce due diligent

It reads, ” The Comptroller of Immigration Service Plateau State Command Nana Kemi Nandap summoned Divisional Immigration Officers (DIOs) from the Seventeen(17) local governments of the state for meeting on how to rid the state of irregular migrants  after the expiration of the six(6) months presidential amnesty period, with emphasis on continous registration of resident migrants in the state and mop up of those who are still not registered to get them complied through enforcement.      
The Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service Muhammad Babandede MFR has just constituted a Comptroller General of Immigration Enforcement and Compliance team, that are empowered to visit states across the country to ensure Compliance and where necessary enforce due diligent Immigration Processes and Procedures both for the Command Operational activities and Compliance of Migrants in the country with a view to sustaining the objectives and goals of the e-migrant registration exercise that is a continous process, the aim is to populate the NIS database and ensure the country has record of every resident migrant across the country for national security and policy administration.           

The Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service Muhammad Babandede MFR assured of a hub of credible data of all migrants deposited in the Technology building when Commissioned, the surest way of getting prepared for this is the stepping up of migrants data collection through the use of all technological tools MIDAS, e-migrant registration exercise, Residence Card, Data generated from the Divisional Immigration Offices in the 774 local governments of the country, and all sources available to the service.       
The Comptroller of Plateau Command took the proactive step to prepare the Divisional Immigration officers for a safe and secured Plateau with near zero irregular migrants activities in the state”.
