Yobe State Govt Signs Contract For Upgrading Media Organizations YTV, YBC

The Yobe State Government has signed a contract worth 90 million Naira with Tiggens Technical Nigeria Limited and El-Roth Global Resources for upgrading the two media organizations Yobe State Television and Yobe Broadcasting Corporation respectively.

The signing of the contract agreement took place at the office of the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Alhaji Abdullahi Bego who signed on behalf of Yobe State Government.

Speaking shortly after signing the contract agreement, the Commissioner explained that Governor Mai Mala Buni who gives priority to the media has given his total commitment to ensure that Yobe State Television (YTV) and Yobe Broadcasting Corporation (YBC) become fully functional to disseminate information at all levels.

Bego indicated that the state government has an obligation to ensure that people of the state receive the signal of both stations to know the good policies and programmes in his administration.

According to him, the aim of signing the contract is to upgrade the media outfits for the development of the state and betterment of the people of the state.

Abdullahi Bego stated that the contract signed which includes the first phase is purchasing of antenna system, installation  and repairs of  1032 feeder cable for YTV transmitter on the cost 28 million Naira, second phase is supply of new and refurbishment of existing equipment of Yobe Broadcasting Corporation (YBC) AM and FM stations at the cost of 39 million Naira as well as the supply and installation of on air studio and acoustics for Yobe Broadcasting Corporation (YBC) studio which was burned down by an electric surge during a nighttime rainstorm caused a fire outbreak at the cost of 18 million Naira respectively.

“These new equipment would ensure better signals for the stations and put Yobe Radio online so that its programmes are received 24/7 on the internet.”

Bego stated that, there would be so much work to be done in the months and even years ahead to take YTV and YBC to the level where they would be most effective, productive and competitive.

“We remain confident that with the generous support of Governor Mai Mala Buni, we would get there.”

He expressed gratitude to Governor Mai Mala Buni for his efforts towards ensuring that, over the coming period, Yobe State has state-of-the-art radio and TV stations that not only serve the people of the state well but people all across the country.
