Women have been advised to rally round the Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai on his move to “castrate” rapists in the state to stem the tide of the scourge.
The founder of Mercy and Truth Prayer Ministry, Lady Evangelist Esther Abidemi Ajayi made the call on Sunday when she spoke with newsmen in Kaduna shortly after her ministration with the members of the ministry.
She said the governor’s concern for womenfolk should be accorded the necessary support required to enable him carry out his plans to save the situation ravaging the country and of particular Kaduna State.
“The suggestion of the governor is a welcome development aimed at rescuing girls from the trauma they are presently passing through nationwide.
” This dreaded monster called rape must be stopped now before it becomes something else”, she explained,” she stressed.
According to the envagelist, the rate at which girls and particularly the minors are being raped has taken a new dimension that requires urgent attention by the government which the governor has taken with all seriousness.
Evangelist Ajayi who is also a marriage counselor said Governor el-Rufai deserves the support of all “because he has demonstrated high quality of not just the governor, but a father who wants the best for the children most especially girls, he is a leader worthy of commendation,”
She called on parents to help the government in the fight against rape by checkmating the way and manner the girl-child dress, saying “the mode of dressing of our girls is appauling that calls for concern to every parent in order to support government quest to rid the society of the scourge.”
The envagelist said the government can only promulgate laws on it, but that the enforcement of the law is in the hands of the parents, adding that the alarming rate of rape of minors calls for concerted efforts to bring the perpetrators to book.
“Governor el-Rufai is a leader with large heart who cares for the people of the state, hence the call on all to give his remarks on how to stamp out the issue of rape from our society the synagy it deserves.
“I am calling on parents particularly mothers, to wake-up from their slumber and give the necessary support required to fight the rape issue tearing us on our face, to serve as encouragement to the government,” she explained further.
