Governor Bello Mohammed (Matawallen Maradun) has said that the Northern Nigeria of today is in dire need of strong and focus leadership that is respected to serve as a common guide.
This was contained in a statement signed by his Special Adviser Public Enlightenment, Media and Communications, Zailani Bappa, made available on Friday July 10, 2020.
“This region is currently in disarray due to lack of purposeful and recognised leaders who can show the way to the majority”, Matawalle lamented.
“Gone are the days when the region boasts of a crop of elders who are respected by all and who showed the way”, Governor Matawalle further observed.
“Today, the North is a beehive of banditry, destitution and poverty due to lack of cohesion and common purpose, economically, socially and politically”.
Governor Matawalle said his administration is doing the best it can to address these problems but the total solution to these problems requires a common and wholistic approach which could have been easier if the North had elders who are respected by all.
He noted that “every household, every community and every people need strong, respectful and purposeful leader or elders who earned their status so that every one looks upon them for wisdom and guidance. We no longer have that in the North”.
Governor Matawalle therefore, warned that if the region continues to remain unfocused and individualistic, it cannot solve its multitude of problems in a fragmented manner.
