Nigeria’s COVID-19 Update: New Cases 544, Total 28,711

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has said that 544 persons tested positive for Novel CoronaVirus disease (COVID-19) in Federal Republic of Nigeria (FRN)on Sunday.

According to NCDC, the new cases were detected in the following eighteen states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja on Sunday: Lagos 199, Ebonyi 65, Oyo 47, Ondo 46, Ogun 31, Edo 30, FCT 28, Katsina 25, Plateau 15, Bayelsa 11, Kaduna 10, Adamawa 10, Akwa Ibom 8, Gombe 7, Kano 4, Taraba 3, Rivers 2, Abia 2 and Ekiti 1.

Since the index case was reported in Nigeria, the country has had a total of 28,711 confirmed cases of the global epidemic, as of 11.36 p. m. yesterday, the 5th of July, 2020, NCDC stated on Twitter.
The Nigerian disease control agency said that out of the total confirmed cases, 11,665 COVID-19 infected patients had been discharged from the country’s isolation centres, while 645 people died of the virus.
