A Non-Govermental Organization (NGO),  known as Glovis Entrepreneurial and Leadership Development Foundation (GELD) is empowering 100 economically active widows in Kaduna.

The programme according to the founder of the organization, Mr Kayode Akinade is aimed at  alleviating poverty and promoting upward financial migration among widows through capacity development, business education, financial empowerment and Business promotion, through what they call DEEP (Develop, Educate, Empower and Promote).

Kayode also noted that the programme is part of his quest to assist widows to improve the quality of their businesses and enhance productive living on their way to financial independence.

“This is also to promote Micro Small and Medium Enterprises/Business in Kaduna and across the country.

“If you are not out of poverty circle, you cannot move into financial independence.

“GELD Foundation is committed to ensuring that it trains small scale business women and widows on how to move their business forward.

“The only way to move your business forward is when your capacity is developed to identify what is wrong with your business, know how to improve and expand your sales by making it completely different from that of others,”  he stressed.

On his part, GELD Consultant on this project, Mr John Ekpikhe appealed to the beneficiaries to take the training serious and make judicious use of empowerment and Intervention items, while assuring that during the next phase of the programme more widows will be included.

He further enjoined government and other well meaning Nigerians to always do their best towards eradicating and alleviating poverty especially among women (widows) and youth.

Responding, some of the beneficiaries, Mrs Salome Net and Mrs Maureen Sheyin thanked the founder of GELD Foundation for having widows at heart, while praying for divine increase in his life and that of the foundation.

The second phase of the programme is expected to commence immediately after completion of the first.
