Yobe Govt Inaugurates Committee To Integrate Tsangaya Into formal Education System

The Yobe State Government has inaugurated a committee to work out modalities on how to integrate Tsangaya system of education into the formal system.

The inauguration of the committee took place on Monday at the conference hall of the secretary to the state government in Damaturu, the state capital.

Inaugurating the committee, Governor Mai Mala Buni represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Baba Mallam Wali indicated that, the committee has a mandate to mobilize all stakeholders, advice government and workout modalities on how to improve and integrate Tsangaya system of education into the formal system.

Governor Mai Mala Buni urged the leadership of the committee to justify the confidence reposed on them  by the state government, adding that Yobe and Borno are the bedrock of Qur’anic education, hence the need for government to work towards improving the system.

Shortly after the inauguration, the Chairman of the Committee and also Commissioner for Basic Education, Dr. Muhammad Sani Idriss expressed gratitude to  Governor Mai Mala Buni for giving them the task and assured to deliver the mandate.

The Committee has Dr. Muhammad Sani Idriss as Chairman, Mallam Muttaka Tanko to serve as Secretary, while Professor Musa Alabe, Ustaz Babagana Mallam Kyari Special Adviser on Religious Affairs to the Governor, Sheikh Ayuba Karamsami, Dr. Yahuza Hamza as well as Executive Secretary Arabic and Islamic Education Board among others as members.

New Nigerian Newspapers gathered that the Committee was given six weeks from Monday to complete its assignment.
