Barely few hours before the ban on interstate travel, no fewer than 179 persons were apprehended by police operatives in Lagos over alleged violation of ban on non essential travels.
Similarly, 43 comnercial vehicles were Impounded from the alleged offenders by the operatives.
Our correspondent gathered that the offenders were arrested on 28th and 29th March 2020 I various interstate motor parks in the state.
It was further learnt that they were immediately arraigned at the Lagos State Special Offences (Mobile) Court and were sentenced accordingly.
The police public relations officer DSP Bala Elkana confirmed the report in a release made available to journalists.
He disclosed that the 43 commercial bus drivers were conveying the arrested passengers to Abuja, Kogi, Abia, among others.

Lagos State Police Command has arrested 179 persons for violating interstates non essential travel restrictions.
The violators were arrested on 28/06/2020 and 29/06/2020 in various interstate checkpoints and motor parks in Lagos State.
Among those arrested are 43 commercial bus drivers conveying the arrested passengers to Abuja, Kogi, Abia, among others. Forty three vehicles were impounded.
The suspects were arraigned in Lagos State Special Offences (Mobile) Court and were sentenced accordingly.
The Commissioner of Police Lagos State Command, CP Hakeem Odumosu psc warned commercial vehicle operators and motor parks against violating interstates movement restriction orders. Passengers are also warned against non essential interstates travel”.
