COVID-19: We Have Successfully Tamed Pandemic – Jigawa Governor

Governor Muhammadu Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa State has announced that his government has successfully conquered the menaced of CoronaVirus, stressing that the state has not recorded any additional case of ‎COVID-19 for the past 15 days.

The governor who stated this on Tuesday at a press briefing held at the Government House Dutse, said the state is gradually overcoming the surge of the pandemic after non recording of the disease despite intensive testing going on. 

He  said the development has made the state task force on COVID-19 to prepare all the 19 general hospitals in the state to enable them receive and test patients for the disease.

Governor Badaru explained that after the testing, samples would be transferred to the newly established molecular laboratory for the results.

He noted that despite the improvement in the number of recorded cases, there are indications that some people are flagrantly flouting the simple NCDC advice of use of facemasks, social distancing and washing of hands.

He said the Shawarin Weekly Market has been suspended indefinitely, stressing further that the disrespect to the rules especially at market places, viewing centres and ‎other social gatherings would no longer be tolerated.

The governor also declared that the impressive development has ‎made the government to ask officers from grade level 12 upward to resume to work starting from next Monday by adhering to the NCDC regulations on assumption.

He concluded by thanking the Dangote Group for donating two ambulances to the state while declaring that commissioners in the state have pledged 10% of their salaries to the fight of the pandemic.
