Barrister Hussini Abdu has been elected as chairman Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Zaria branch having defeated his counterpart Barrister Abubakar Ishaq with 43 voters to 35..
Speaking at the swearing in ceremony, Justice Kabir Dabo of High Court 1 Dogarawa advised the newly elected executive not to allow disunity to have a space in the branch .
Justice Kabir Dabo also advised the new executives to carry every member along for the unity to prevail in the NBA Zaria branch .
He prayed that the rumours he has been hearing about the NBA Zaria was untrue and will be discarded for the branch to progress .
In his acceptance speech, the new Chairman Barrister Hussaini Abdu extended a hand of friendship to all those that felt aggrieved to join the executive to make NBA Zaria branch a vibrant and dynamic association.
Barrister Hussaini also assured the NBA Zaria branch that he will not disappoint them, while seeking for their maximum support and cooperation during their tenure .
He promised to change the association to a better position and unite all members as well as address the high lingering relationship between the lawyers, the bar, the security and the general public as their clients .
The new chairman appealed to the executive members to tighten their belts for the task ahead as all eyes will be on them to see how they can deliver NBA Zaria branch to enviable heights.
Those elected unopposed were Gambo Abubakar (Vice Chairman), Ahmed T. Abubakar (Secretary) Bashir Musa (Assistant Secretary), Maryam A. Halidu (Tresurer), Adamu A. Lawal (Financial Secretary), Bala A. Ishaq (Social Secretary), Hassan Y. Rilwan (Publicity Secretary), G.M Sadiq (Provost), while the post of Legal Adviser was won by A.Y Mohammed with 43 votes against Ibrahim B. Ahmed 35 votes .
In his remarks, the former chairman, Barrister Yemi Adekunle thanked members of NBA Zaria branch for the opportunity given him to serve and sought their forgiveness for any of shortfall during his tenure .
