Three Oyo State Executive Council Members Test Positive For CoronaVirus

Governor Makinde updating Oyo State residents on CoronaVirus developments in Ibadan on Monday April 6, 2020.

Oyo State Governor and Chairman of the state COVID 19 Task Force, Engineer  Seyi Makinde on Thursday announced that three members of the state Executive Council have tested positive  to CoronaVirus 
Also, Governor Makinde hinted that Two other members of the Executive council are to repeat their COVID 19 test as the earlier test conducted on them was inconclusive.
The governor in the lastest update on COVID 19 in Oyo state maintained that as a result of the confirmation of the 3 Executive council members to be CoronaVirus positive, their offices  have been closed and  be decontaminated while their contact tracing is on going by the COVID 19 Task Force.
“Earlier today, we received COVID-19 confirmation tests for all members of the Oyo State Executive Council (EXCO). Sadly, three tests came back positive, and two were inconclusive so they will need to be retested. The EXCO members have been contacted and contact tracing has begun. Also, their offices have been closed and will be decontaminated.,” he said.
Governor Makinde added, “let me reiterate that COVID-19 is still very much with us. That we are taking steps to re-open the economy, does not mean that the virus has disappeared.”
“We must each take actions to protect ourselves and our families.We must each own our actions and take preventive measures which include washing our hands with soap and water, wearing face masks whenever we are with other people and maintaining proper social distancing from others.”
He pointed out that the people of Oyo state “must not forget the various advisories the Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force has issued regarding what to eat to boost our immune systems. Sometimes, even after following all directives, we may still get the virus,” 
“When  this happens, we need to have our bodies ready to fight this disease.We all join in prayer for our colleagues who have come down with the coronavirus and wish them a speedy recovery.”

The governor emphasized the need for the people of Oyo state to always “call the Emergency Operations Centre on 08095394000 | 08095863000 | 08078288999 | 08078288800 or visit a community-based testing centre nearer to them in case of “any symptoms of COVID-19”.
