Jigawa State Government has vowed to close down weekly markets over the violation of COVID-19 advisory measures.
Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar gave the warning while briefing newsmen at the State House in Dutse.
He said markets were re-opened for continuation of business activities following the success recorded in the fight against CoronaVirus, however the task force committee on COVID-19 in the state has reported low compliance in the markets.
The Governor warned that government will close down any weekly market across the state provided the people patronising such markwts are in the habit of contravening the COVID-19 protocols.
Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar directed security agents to disband all check points in border areas.
He also commended the security personnel and people of the state for giving all the necessary support and cooperation during the lock down.
In a related development, the state government has announced an extension of one week sit at home directives on the state civil servants with effect from Tuesday 22 to end of June this year for protection from unforseen hazards to their lives due to the threat of COVID-19 pandemic in the state.
