The Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe has said that proper waste disposal and management culture can reduce the spread of diseases and prevent environmentally hazards while improving the quality of lives of citizens.
She stated this on Thursday when flagging off the distribution of 1079 units of 240 liters plastic bins and 35 units of 1,100 liters galvanized bins procured by the state government. Represented by Barrister James Kanyip, Deputy Chief of Staff (Office of the Deputy Governor), the Deputy Governor disclosed that the bins were procured as part of state government’s effort to halt and mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in Kaduna State.
Consequently, the bins are to be placed at 255 Primary Health Care Centres (PHCs), 35 General Hospitals and motor parks accross the state.
Others will be placed at the 22 Urban Renewal Roads in Kaduna metropolis to allow residents to properly dispose of COVID-19 protective materials like face masks and hand gloves regularly.
